Love To Disagree (Ep. 329)

Love To Disagree (Ep. 329)

During Sefirah, when we focus on bein adam lโ€™chaveiro, how should we relate to different sectors within Judaismโ€”not just within Orthodoxy, but more broadly? If I believe that certain groups are making serious mistakes or are fundamentally wrong in their approach, what is my obligation? On the one hand, I understand that I should view all Jews as part of Hashemโ€™s people and relate to them with a sense of unity. On the other hand, is it acceptable to distance myself and โ€œlove from afarโ€ while still disagreeing with them? Within Orthodoxy, even with differences between groups, there is generally a shared framework of avodat Hashem. My question is mainly about relating across more distinct sectors, such as Dati Leumi/Mizrachi, Charedi, and Reform. Do I have an obligation to genuinely question my own assumptions and consider that they may be serving Hashem more correctly than I am, or can I remain committed to my own mesorah while still maintaining respect and a sense of unity? thank you kvod harav!

Dear Rabbi Orlofsky, It has been 30 years since I had the zchus of having you as my Mashgiach Ruchani at Yeshiva Ohr David. Looking back, it is clear that your guidance didn't just impact my years in Yeshiva; it has shaped the trajectory of my life and, by extension, the lives of my children. It brings me immense pleasure to see the genuine excitement my two daughters have whenever a new "Rabbi Orlofsky Show" is released. Your Torah and your perspective have become a staple in our home. In fact, one of my daughters is currently in seminary, and after a few months in the "system," she has officially concluded that the world is missing one vital institution: A Rabbi Orlofsky Seminary for Girls Who Want to Hear the Truth and Get the Most Out of their Year. I would like to dedicate this shiur in honor of my Aishes Chayil, Ana and my children, Danielle and Aliza. They make me so proud every single day with their tireless dedication to chesed, kiruv, and avodas Hashem. Finally, please consider this dedication a completely transparent and lightly veiled bribe. My daughter is ready and willing to work at your Pesach program - sheโ€™s hardworking, high-energy, and already knows all your jokes, so sheโ€™s basically overqualified. If that doesn't work, weโ€™ll settle for a Shabbos invite. We promise to laugh at all the stories weโ€™ve already heard on the show.

ืœืขื™ืœื•ื™ ื ืฉืžืช ืจืณ ืฉืœื•ื ื—ื™ื™ื ื‘ืŸ ื ื—ื•ื Dear Rabbi Orlofsky, Thank you for the tremendous chizuk your shiurim give to me and my family. They say, โ€œThose who understand, teach.โ€ And you teach in a way that helps us understand not just the Torah, but how to live it with simcha. The way you blend Torah, avodas hamiddos, and stories of Gedolim, along with that contagious laughter, is pure gold. And yes... I even use your jokes, beshem omro, though the delivery is definitely better on your side of the microphone. Wishing you continued hatzlacha, much nachas, and many more years of spreading Torah, chizuk, and joy around the world. Shkoyach!.
